Sylt Sunset
Sylt in June 2011, west coast near Kampen The island is basically a treeless dune in the north sea, all sand and grass. To protect the landscape from erosion, tourists are not allowed to wander the dunes. Still there are kilometers of wooden walkways stretching through the beautiful landscape to provide access to these areas. Years of harsh weather conditions make the walkways look very aged and make them interesting objects for landscape photography.
Sylt Beach
Sylt has suffered loss of landmass for a very long time. The island's government always came up with new projects to protect the island from erosion and those wavetraps where one of the (failed) ideas to stop the loss of sand to the sea. Today these wavetraps decay and are very dangerous for swimmers and surfers.

SK Minden in List Harbor in June 2011 The Minden is a german coast guard vessel built in 1985 and stationed at List Harbor since 1989. Notice the little speed boat "Margarete" on the deck. I had the opportunity to take a picture of the Minden twice - in 2002 and in 2011. This picture was taken in June 2011.
